How a Multi-Specialty Hospital Reached Position 1 for 23 Patient Search Terms

  • Gulf region (Middle East)

A large private multi-specialty hospital in the Gulf wanted patients to find it first across search, maps, and AI answers. In about a year it moved from 10 keywords in the top 10 to 42, with 23 terms at position 1 and tens of thousands of monthly calls from its local profile.

What we were up against

  • Low search visibility for high-intent terms

Only 10 keywords ranked in the top 10, so patients searching for the hospital, its specialties, and its services were often not seeing it on the first page.

  • Unmeasured and scattered demand

Analytics were not connected at the start and demand signals lived in different places, making it hard to see which channels actually produced patient calls and visits.

  • No structured local and review strategy

The map listing already drew high volume, but calls, direction requests, reviews, and sentiment were not being tracked or acted on in a consistent monthly rhythm.

  • Weak presence in AI answers

AI assistants increasingly answer health questions first. The hospital was not reliably named in those answers, including for its own brand and nearby specialty queries.

How Leadmetrics helped

We built one measurable programme across organic search, local presence, and AI visibility, run on a monthly reporting cycle. The focus was to make every patient discovery moment accurate and trustworthy, then measure which ones produced real action, instead of chasing traffic for its own sake.

  1. Audit & Diagnosis

    • Mapped the full patient journey from AI query to search to map listing to call, and found where the hospital dropped out of view.
    • Audited search rankings, keyword indexation, backlink quality, and on-page structure against local competitors.
    • Audited the local profile for accuracy: categories, hours, phone, appointment links, photos, and review response.
    • Flagged tracking gaps so that calls, form fills, and key patient actions could be measured cleanly.
  2. Strategy & Planning

    • Prioritised high-intent patient terms across specialties, diagnostics, and local hospital queries.
    • Set a six-month plan with clear targets for top-10 rankings, indexation, backlinks, and local actions.
    • Planned answer-ready content and structured data so search engines and AI assistants could read the hospital clearly.
    • Defined a monthly reporting framework so every decision was based on real movement, not guesswork.
  3. Execution

    • Published patient-education and specialty content tuned to how patients actually search and ask.
    • Strengthened page structure, internal links, FAQ blocks, and schema across services and centres of excellence.
    • Ran a steady local-profile programme of posts, review growth, and response, plus ongoing authority building through backlinks.
    • Kept the hospital's name, details, and services consistent across the site, the map listing, and directories so AI answers could trust it.
  4. Monitoring & Optimization

    • Tracked rankings, local calls and directions, reviews, and AI-answer presence every month in one view.
    • Doubled down on the specialties and queries that were climbing and reworked those that stalled.
    • Watched review sentiment by theme to feed both marketing and patient-experience improvements.
    • Reported honestly on what was won, what was holding, and what to do next.

The impact delivered

  • Of 60 tracked patient search terms, 23 reached position 1 and 35 reached the top 3, including core terms for the hospital, its heart and diagnostic services, and local 24-hour care.
  • Keywords in the top 10 rose from 10 at the start of the engagement to 42, putting the hospital on the first page for the large majority of its priority terms.
  • Across roughly nine months the local profile drove 69,677 phone calls and 74,771 direction requests, the clearest signal of real patient demand for a hospital.
  • The hospital is now named first in AI assistants for its brand and key local queries, backed by 3,003 reviews at a 4.3 average rating that reinforce trust across every channel.

Key lessons learned

For hospitals, phone calls and direction requests from the local profile are often the biggest real demand signal. Measure and grow them deliberately.

Clear page structure, FAQs, and schema help both search engines and AI assistants name a hospital correctly. Consistency across the site, listing, and directories is what earns that trust.

A monthly view of rankings, local actions, reviews, and AI presence turns marketing into decisions. Grow what is climbing, fix what is stalling, and never claim a win that the data does not support.
